Grounds Laborer
Summer work hours 6am – 2pm; fall through spring 7am – 3pm

Per the requirements of a federal contract and in line with our mission, we must employ an individual with a disability in this position. Documentation of your disability will be required as part of the application process.

Provide year-round grounds maintenance for all property at the Defense Supply Center Richmond as part of an ARC contract. Work includes grass and weed cutting, trimming hedges, removing debris, mulching, watering grounds.

Ability lift 50 pounds frequently

Experience operating a tractor, hand-held lawn tools and lawn equipment

Grounds maintenance experience preferred, not required

High-school graduate or GED completion

Need to have reliable transportation

Must be able to pass a thorough background check (no criminal history)

Dispatcher

Per the requirements of a federal contract and in line with our mission, we must employ an individual with a disability in this position. Documentation of your disability will be required as part of the application process.

Provide 911-type response and dispatching services as part of an ARC contract at the Defense Supply Center Richmond. Overnight, weekend and evening shifts available; on-call positions also available.

Monitor radio system, police and fire alarms, closed-circuit TV (CCTV) monitors; answer radio transmissions and phone calls

Dispatch appropriate police, fire and EMS units in a timely fashion based on information provided by telephone, supervisors, visual assessments, radio transmissions or walk-ins; maintain records/logs of activity

Must be able to pass a thorough background and credit check (no criminal history, no bankruptcies)

Occupational Therapist

part-time position

Provide direct occupational therapy services, support and education to children and families enrolled in the Infant and Child Development Services program of the ARC using a family-centered approach to occupational therapy. Ensure case management documentation is maintained and billing completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or greater in Occupational Therapy

1-3 years of clinical experience, internships or externships

Must have Virginia state license

First Aid and CPR certification is also required (provided by the agency in your first month of employment)

Need to have reliable transportation

Must demonstrate proficiency in the specialty of pediatric occupational therapy and knowledge of the latest techniques relative to this specialty area of therapy

Westwood Avenue - After School Counselors(M-F 2-6pm; all day when schools closed, including summer

Multiple opportunities for experienced direct care providers. Duties include leading individual and group activities, providing personal care and creating a safe, fun and learning-focused environment for our clients.

Experience as a care provider, educator or aide for individuals (adults or children) with disabilities

CNA certification, therapeutic recreation or special education background desired

Must have good driving record and be willing to transport clients in agency vehicles.

Carpet Cleaning Crew Supervisor

Schedule is Monday - Friday from 5:30pm - 2am

Full-time opening for an experienced carpet technician to ensure the proper cleaning and on-the-job supervision of the carpet crew (2-3 technicians) at a local military facility. Qualifications:

Experience with a truck-mounted carpet cleaning machine

Work lead or supervisory experience preferred

Ability to prioritize work to meet daily and weekly schedules

Must be self-monitoring and be able to work with little on-site supervision

Must have good driving record and no felony convictions; must be able to pass a federal background check.

Morning and Evening shifts available!

For Positions that Require Disability Documentation

For an individual to qualify for one of these positions, which are on AbilityOne contracts procured through a federal agency called NISH (National Industries for the Severely Handicapped), he/she must provide us with detailed medical documentation that is signed by a licensed medical practitioner, specifies a diagnosis of a medical condition, and gives details on how the medical condition negatively affects the person’s day-to-day life functions. A person’s diagnosis must negatively affect day to day life functions to the point that they are determined to be “Severely Disabled”, which is a determination that our Rehabilitative Services professionals will make after a review of the documentation. These documentation requirements, and disability criteria are a requirement for us to staff and maintain the contracts.

Production Supervisor

Full-time employment opportunity providing supervision and direction for production workers with disabilities; setting up work, monitoring tasks and driving towards goal completion. Common production projects include hand assembly, packaging/re-packaging, bulk mail. Previous production experience required, supervisory or lead-worker experience desired; must be able to lift 50 pounds and have good DMV record. Previous experience supporting people with disabilities preferred.
